Setup raspi-config wifi, that's it:

You want to set up WLAN on the Raspberry Pi via the raspi-config, but don't know how? That's not just for you. The raspi-config wifi Guide will help you solve setup problems.

There are several solutions that you can use to set up wifi using Raspi-config. Basically, it's not that difficult, but if you don't have a graphical user interface, you first have to configure wifi manually via the raspi-config connection.

With the Raspberry Pi, the first two models didn't have a built-in wifi and you had to buy a suitable raspi-config wifi USB adapter first. Starting with the Raspberry Pi 3 a WLAN radio chip is integrated and so you only need to set it up via the raspi-config wifi and don't have to buy anything more.

Setting up the raspi-config wifi function

No matter which Raspberry Pi you have - if you install the latest version of the operating system with user interface, you can also fix any raspi-config WLAN problems that may occur over it. Rasbian with an enabled desktop environment has a graphical user interface and is also called LXDE environment.

The functionalities allow you to set up the raspi-config WLAN function via the terminal. This way works fine on the Raspberry Pi 3, but also on newer Raspberry Pi's with integrated wifi chip. In the simplest case you only need to boot the system and then configure the raspi-config wifi. In between, it is important to enter the wifi password in the raspi-config.

Then you are already logged in to the network. By the way: You can of course also change the password using the raspi-Config wifi option. It is best to make sure that you have the access data ready. You only need to configure the raspi-config wifi settings once and then the raspberry Pi will automatically log into your wifi every time you restart.

sudo raspi-config wifi - Connection

The Raspberry Pi 3 is the first model to feature an integrated wifi module. This allows you to use the Raspberry Pi flexibly and, of course, also increases the possibilities of use.

To use the wifi directly, the first step is to check whether the WLAN adapter is working properly. If this is not the case, you may have to fix the raspi-config wifi problems and adjust the country code first.

To do this, use the command sudo raspi-config and change the country code to DE. Before you establish the raspi-config wifi connection, you should check one more point. So you have to scan if the network is close to you. Then you can connect and get started.

Connect Raspberry Pi to your Wifi

If you don't have a RasPi 3, you will of course have to use an adapter for the WLAN.
Of course you can also connect the Raspberry Pi via cable.

But it is much more flexible to use the raspicConfig wifi. This is done via the raspi-config WLAN router and with a raspi-config wifi repeater you can even optimize the connection.

If you have an adapter, you can test it on the Rasperry Pi. If not, you can of course buy an adapter at a reasonable price and then set up your wireless network with the raspi-config wifi Guide.

Increase raspi-config wifi quality

Normally many people use the Raspi via Ethernet and connect it to the cable. But with that you are logically tied to one place and you can't flexibly advance your projects.

For this reason it is recommended to use wifi with raspi-config. If you use the wireless network, but the connection is not very good, there is of course a very effective solution - a repeater.

All you have to do is plug it into the wall socket and configure it briefly. With a repeater you have the possibility to have a very good network quality throughout and to advance your projects faster.
